For Corporate and Business

Parenting skills training at work

The Parent Practice corporate programmes

Working parents face challenges in balancing their work and child-rearing responsibilities, particularly while their children are young. Achieving this balance is important for the wellbeing of parents and their children. It’s also vital for their employers that working parents get support so that they can focus on work, get fulfilment through work and stay in work.

We work with companies who want to offer professional parenting support to working parent employees.  Working inside some of the UK’s top companies, all over the UK, we deliver a comprehensive series of seminars and webinars to groups of working parents - in the convenience of the workplace. These are the employers of choice.

This is a valuable and innovative way for employers to help employees with work and life balance whilst improving employee retention and productivity. Working for employers who understand this makes a huge difference.  Clients tell us that when armed with the skills from our seminars home life becomes calmer and more fulfilling which makes it easier to focus at work and a better balance between work and family life. Many also say the communication and problem solving skills they learn on our courses also help in the workplace.

Our parenting programmes at work consist of series of seminars that provide a full complement of parenting skills.  Popular with our corporate and business clients is the 6-seminar series conducted over a 12 month timeframe as this provides continuity of parenting skills training.

Seminars are available in 60 minute, 90 minute and 120 minute formats, depending on the depth of knowledge and Q&A timeframe required by the client.  Seminars are scheduled over breakfast meetings, lunch times, early evenings or included in the agenda at company events.  Seminar attendees can be in any position or at any stage of career.

See all the seminar topics below.

Before the seminars are delivered, we liaise with human resource managers, heads of departments or managers as required to tailor a programme to suit the needs of that organisation.  If you have a specific request for topics, please talk to us.

We wanted to extend our warmest thanks for an excellent seminar today on emotional resilience attended by 120 people. You’ve left us with very pragmatic tools and techniques and the case studies and real life examples really brought this to life and made for a very enjoyable hour. Thanks also for opening up for an additional 30 minutes of Q&A for individuals’ personal questions. You have certainly prompted lots of positive debate here and we would warmly recommend this seminar to others.

Organisers, following a daytime corporate talk at BP

I've just attended one of the Parent Practice sessions at Starcom and wanted to say what a truly wonderful thing it was. Not just in terms of the commitment that the Group is showing to the mothers and fathers who work in its various offices, but also the course itself. Nothing is more important to me than my family and the things I have learned today, and look forward to learning in the coming sessions, will be of more value to me than probably any other form of training I have ever done. As a member of staff I applaud you for organising it and as a parent I thank you for helping me in such an important area of my life. Parenting is a sensitive issue at the best of times and I'm not afraid to admit that I struggle with the increasing demands of parenthood. However, I left this morning feel empowered, enlightened and genuinely optimistic about things. I wonder how many training courses can lay claim to affecting behaviour quite so dramatically.

Darren, Client Service Director, Leo Burnett.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to both of you for your work with us over the last 9 months or so. You have truly transformed the quality of some of our people's lives and changed the relationship they have with their children. We have seen the feedback. And there is no price to be put on this. The parent practice made an important contribution to our company being awarded a place in The Sunday Times Top 100 companies to work for as we focus on supporting our parents. So a big thank you

Liz Nottingham, Talent Office and HR Director Starcom Mediavest
